I enjoyed watching the Cultural Research Club interact and banter and be high schoolers - there's a candor here that is at times surprising, given the often formulaic nature of anime character archetypes and storylines. The primary reason for this is the impressive character work. It's a premise I wasn't sure was going to work - and instead turned out to be something I looked forward to every week. Kokoro Connect is sort of an odd duck - it's often defined as a school comedy but there are aspects of it that are deeply psychological and borderline creepy, and has a thoroughly unlikable alien catalyst (Heartseed) that nevertheless instigates interesting and entertaining antics amongst the members of the Cultural Research Club. As these five friends face many different unusual phenomena at the whims of a mysterious being known as Heartseed, their friendship is put to the ultimate test. One day, they begin experiencing a phenomenon in which they randomly swap bodies amongst themselves. The story involves five high school students, Taichi, Iori, Himeko, Yoshifumi and Yui, who are all members of the Cultural Research Club.

Of course seeing Himeko flip off Heartseed is kinda fun too but I have been looking forward for the date details ever since the last volume. I won't get into any details to avoid spoilers but I was looking forward to see if anything would come out between Misaki and Yui. My favorite part about this book would probably be the end of Yui's date. I am looking forward to seeing how the group overcomes this new and possibly dangerous new game Heartseed has cooked up. It turns out Heartseed is done with switching bodies for now and has decided everyone should be a little more true to themselves so from now on he/it is going to unleash the desires of each of them from time to time but only one at a time, This way they will act on whatever strong emotion they are feeling at the time and so far they have not been able to resist them. Yui's eyes suddenly glaze over as she inquires about what is going on and suddenly breaks a desk to her confusion. However the Heartseed is up to a new game as we see Himeko suddenly begin stripping (only down to her bra) before Taichi much to his embarrassment and hers when their friends came in while his hands were upon her chest as he tried to push her off of him.

It really is super cute to see Yui trying to understand the concept of love considering her lack of experience (many of us might still inquire into what love really is) and it is fun to see how the date between her and Misaki ends up. Of course Yoshifumi who cares for Yui is distraught and the others are not only curious about Yui's date but are worried Maiko is up to no good. Yui succumbs to Misaki's request to go on a date due to her extreme cuteness when asking Yui out. Of course Yoshifumi who c This series is rated Teen and has elements not only of some violence but also deals with what would happen when young men and women randomly lose control of their inhibition (it looks like the Heartseed wanted to try a something new since I did not see any body switching in this volume) so use your best judgment before allowing a younger person a chance to read this book.
